No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.

Happy New Year, Thailand. Ok, so I’m a bit behind (but technically the festival lasts 3 days) in wishing you all a very healthy Songrkran (or New Year in Thailand). It is particularly celebrated in the North with a major parade of nearly 50 buddha statutes, along with temple elders, monks, novices and dancers. In the olden times, it was considered a sign of respect to pour water on the shoulder of the young and the feet of the old. The water came from pools under buddha images that had been splashed with water from the people. Once it hits the icon, it is considered holy water. Today, people get wild, using squirt guns, trash buckets and more to soak each other in the street while watching the parade, rocking out to Thai bands or cruising the city in pickups. Short story: What an awesome adventure! Today, I’m off the a marine park in the South.

Sawatdee Kaa from Bangok. After a 24-hour haul I’m in the former kingdom Siam. On today’s docket: Touring the Grand Palace, Temple of the Emerald Buddha and a spa treatment! I’ve got to wear the same dress I did in 2009, since Palace touring dress code is ‘respectfu,l’ which means long pants or dresses that cover the knees and zero shoulder baring.

Hola desde el nuevo Now Amber en Puerto Vallarta. This couple-friendly all-inclusive is so new, it smells like fresh paint and I’m the first person to stay in my room! I’m being lulled by the ocean waves and would love to take a dip in my private hot tub on on my balcony, but my belly has other plans. Off to find the tacos.

Laptop Case

To say that my travel schedule is about to blow up is the understatement of the century. I’m headed to Puerto Vallarta on Saturday, Canun that following Wednesday. I come back to NYC for literally a minute before escaping with Husband to awesometown Amanyara in the Turks and Caicos. Two weeks later, I’m off again to Thailand. Since it is all for the day job, I’m bringing along my beloved MacBook Pro to take notes, download photos and keep in touch with tumblr. If you can believe it the little guy has been without a traveling case because I saw one at a sample sale a thousand years ago before I had the silver bullet and never found another one that I thought matched its cool factor. That was until I found this little monogram-able canvas case at West Elm. The color makes it a cinch to notice on the security belt and the material is perfectly sand repellent. The best part? It was 20 bucks.

Mariah on the Fantasy
New York in the house, Mickey in the house, Mariah in the house, Jenna in the house. Everybody come on, come on, come on.
Last night Disney christened its newest addition to their cruise fleet, the Fantasy. I attended the gala, which was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and featured ‘fairy godmother’ code name Honey. To say the event was spectacular would be a serious understatement. Thanks to Disney for the wonderful hospitality and congratulations on the gorgeous ship!

Travel Tuesday: The Four Seasons Nevis

bridalguidemag:

The Four Seasons Nevis is the only member of the service-oriented hotel group in the entire Caribbean. In addition to guest rooms housed in traditional Nevisian cottages, the spa is also a collection of breezy cabins. Most of the treatment rooms include their own pools with views of the island’s dormant volcano. Can you say: Paradise found?

Last week I got invited to China. It has never really been on the radar for me. I’ve always wanted to explore Indo and more of Thailand, but now it is all I can think about—seeing the Great Wall and touring the Imperial Cities. No matter if I go or not, I won’t have a window seat. I hate, hate, hate flying. And I don’t like looking at the ground at take-off and I certainly don’t take a glance inflight. These paintings are a great compromise for me. I’d love to see some from Africa, where you can spy elephants and zebra from your sky-high-vantage point (at least that is what Husband said when we were there).
