Charlotte of Monaco has been my favorite royal for years. There is something about her undone look that is so alluring to me. Now that she’s in these Gucci ads she’s become something more: my eyebrow idol. I love how they are thick, natural and frame her eyes so well. Those French girls really know how to have that  je ne sais quoi beauty without ever trying.

I’m not on the Jessica Biel train. I think she is blah. I don’t buy her fashion moment (although I like the Havisham Golden Globes dress) and the only thing I get about her and JT is that they both really dig doing sports. But I’ll readily admit that this W cover is fantastic. That W does a great job of making girls I’m not really interested in reading about look really appeal on their covers. And this is one of the reasons I’ve always loved W. Well, that and the writing.

Laptop Case

image
To say that my travel schedule is about to blow up is the understatement of the century. I’m headed to Puerto Vallarta on Saturday, Canun that following Wednesday. I come back to NYC for literally a minute before escaping with Husband to awesometown Amanyara in the Turks and Caicos. Two weeks later, I’m off again to Thailand. Since it is all for the day job, I’m bringing along my beloved MacBook Pro to take notes, download photos and keep in touch with tumblr. If you can believe it the little guy has been without a traveling case because I saw one at a sample sale a thousand years ago before I had the silver bullet and never found another one that I thought matched its cool factor. That was until I found this little monogram-able canvas case at West Elm. The color makes it a cinch to notice on the security belt and the material is perfectly sand repellent. The best part? It was 20 bucks.

Today is a day (it’s 70 in NYC in March!) when I wish I could rock an outfit like this. I adore vintage metal tees (I actually listened to the bands as a teen) and ultra-long skirts scream let’s go for a picnic in the park. Of course, I’m always looking to finish a look by overaccessorizing. In fact, I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t layer on the accoutrement.

Spring Fever!
Ranunculus are lining the streets of the flower district in NYC. I love the dense little flowers (they were in my wedding bouquet). The heart look of the blooms make them a nice interseasonal decoration on my window sills. They also look great in small bunches in juice glasses or old jam jars.

Tweet, Tweet.

When I first spied this little birdie on Honeyshine’s website, I thought it was an ashtray. Then I thought who buys ashtrays in this post-smoking-ban world. Once I realized it was a juicer, I thought it perhaps too pretty a bird to gather citrus pulp at its beak. Instead, I’d use this little fellow to store my rings and bracelets. How cute would it look to have my shiny glass bangles from India surrounding the body? And my rings will glitter at his beak. I may even store some of my earnings at the base.

Did I Miss the Red Jeans Thing?
That was my Facebook status and a tweet the other day. In some ways I feel like the Lady of Bath legs looks is so last whenever. But the other side of me is thinking that red jeans will make a great transitional item for late March into April. At first I avoided the color denim thing for fear of calling too much attention to my bottom half, but the more I think about it, the more I think red jeans could be a welcome addition to my piles of denim. They’d look great with my bow top from Tibi, my leopard print sweater that I’ve lived in all winter and my adored black blazer. I can also pair with my leopard ballet flats, awesome boots Husband got me for Christmas and ooooh! those amazing little booties by Ash. Of course, they’d also pair well with the perfect chambray shirt that has been alluding me for years…
What do you think? Should I opt for purple or a teal instead? And by the way, follow me on twitter @srajennamahoney

Four Seasons Mugs

Happy Apriluary from NYC. The weather has been so bananas mild this year, that I keep thinking that summer will actually never come and we’ll be stuck in a Seattle-like continuum of the same weather conditions all year-round (except it won’t be so wet). And with the confusion of normal and temperatures in the same thought, so is the conodrum of which jacket to wear and whether tights are appropriate or not. One thing that hasn’t waned this year though, is the winter cleanse. Everyone I know (myself included) is getting on the sugar/wheat/booze/coffee needs to be regulated and or kicked off the regular rotation train this season. And although all I really want is an espresso martini and some sugared churros, I can tell you that my body and skin look so much better than just a few weeks ago. As part of my cleansing ritual, I’ve started a nightly tea time, I brew up some CALM and try my hand at the crossword puzzle just before bed. I find the fizzy potion helps me sleep more soundly. And the quietness of the ritual allows me to reflect on the day. These mugs from fellow Brooklynite Claudia Pearson and Flea vendor are the perfect compliment to my new scheduled quite time, and a reminder of what the season should actually look like.  image
She makes tea towels—another one of my absolute favorite things in the world—in the same patterns.

Need. Want. Now. Marni for H&M

image
The look books for the loveliness that is the Marni/H&M collab have been clogging up the internet this week. Of course at first glance, I desired everything from the sequin collar to the maxi dress. But as with most collaborations, I found myself weighing the usefulness of such items. I can’t tell you how many sequins collars I’ve bought and returned in the past six months and how downright unflattered I look in maxidresses (although, I do believe that one day the right one will come along). One item that I can’t stop salivating over is this leather top. It.is.everything. It is like the ending to last night’s Parenthood—it makes me cry (except with happiness). What I really adore about this buttery item of love is the gray/brown combo, which is almost as impossible to achieve by mere mortals. It also has a more timeless vibe then collab items normally have, don’t you agree? My coveted top will go so well with all jeans—skinny or wide—, my I-wish-I-had-more-of-them cropped pants that I’ve got to safety pin together to stay up, as well as a few of my skirts, especially a vintage denim number that I break generally only on the Cape or to pair with an APC collarless jacket. Ooh! This top will also look fabu under my APC collarless blazer. That’s it—I’m waiting in line for this!
