Envelope Clutches!
A dear friend is headed to LA for the parties this weekend celebrating the Golden Globes. Since the only red carpet reporting I ever do is from resort openings (and then it’s strictly D list and below), I’m l i v i n g vicariously through her trip to awesometown. The first step, of course, is picking the right outfit. She did that with the help of her coworkers “fashion show at lunch” style and now she’s on to the accessories. I, like everyone in the free world these days, can’t get enough of the envelope clutches the kids are sporting. I love the (please forever forgive me for using this phrase) pop of color and the ladylike structure. I also live for the fact that you can fit way more than a tube of gloss and a lonely id in there. I mean a girl has got to live tweet!

Need. Want. Now. Phillipe Stark Louis Ghost Armchair

In today’s episode of NWN, we have an item that I’ve been imagining in my home ever since I spied a pair in a design hotel in LA before I understood what design hotels were and I still was living with roommates. I wasthisclose to scoring a pair myself this winter from a neighbor. He was moving and posted a smoked Ghost Chair and a red one on the building’s bulletin board five hours before I was getting on a plane to Tahiti. I didn’t think Husband would have had the same immediate design appreciation as I, so I hoped and wished and hoped some more that my unknown moving neighbor would be able to hold on to them for the week. No such luck. I recently got a steal on four steel chairs from the 40s that my dad and I are refinishing. And the other day I thought to myself: Self those silver chairs would look awesome with two Ghosts at the end of a long deeply toned wood table. It seems like the cosmos agrees with me. The other day, I noticed Lucky magazine is giving away a pair. And this afternoon at a Christmas in July pr preview, I saw a stately one in white. I could feel him smiling at me…
